Air Jordan XXI - The DNA of A Champion

The Air Jordan XXI (21 or XX1) was released on February 18, 2006. In terms of design, the Air Jordan was quite simple when compared to other Air Jordan models. However, the Air Jordan XXI once-again featured high-tech materials. The Air Jordan XXI was sold as the exploration into the DNA of a champion. The Air Jordan XXI was designed to be a shoe that brought a new level of sophistication while using cutting edged technology.

Bentley Inspiration

The Air Jordan XXI was inspired once again by a car. This time, the inspiration came from the Bentley Continental GT coupe. In fact, the front of the Air Jordan XX1 is made to look like the grill of the Bentley Continental GT coupe.

D'Wayne Edwards' First Air Jordan

Jordan Brand turned to D'Wayne Edwards for the design of the Air Jordan XXI. The XX1 featured lower-foot air grilles, double-overlasted Phylon midsole, a carbon fiber shank plate and a seamless diamond-quilted booty. It also has an evolutionary tunable I.P.S. suspension system that lets the wearer choose between Zoom and Encapsulated air.

Michael Jordan's Words

Michael had the following statement to make with regards to the Air Jordan XXI: "With last year's Air Jordan XX, we looked back and celebrated the past twenty years. The Air Jordan XXI is a look toward the future. We're making the shoe more luxurious and more advanced in terms of technology, which sets the stage for the brand going into the next twenty years."

Another Nice Packaging

The packaging for the Air Jordan XX1 was separated into two compartments. There was a compartment for each shoe as well as a bag to could hold the air pods. The Air Jordan XXI released in four different colorways ($175.00), and two Lows.
