The Reflective tongue and clear rubber sole

The Air Jordan V (5) was released in February 1990 and was once again designed by Hatfield. Four models of the Air Jordan V were released to the public. The most unique feature of the Air Jordan V was its reflective tongue. The reflective tongue had the Jumpman symbol on top of it to give it a unique look. Besides the reflective tongue, the Air Jordan V also featured clear rubber soles which also added to the unique look and style of the Air Jordan V.

The Yellow Sole Issue

The clear sole of the Air Jordan V were quite unique and so popular that they returned on future Air Jordans such as the Air Jordan VI, Air Jordan XI and Air Jordan XVI. However, the clear sole of the Air Jordan V would often turn yellow over time. Once the sole of the Air Jordan V turned yellow, there was no way to clean it. Many collectors simply stored the shoes in a cool place and never took it out of the box.

Mustang Plane Inspiration

The Air Jordan V design was inspired by the World War II Mustang fighter planes. This inspiration is most evident by the shark teeth profile on the midsole of the Air Jordan V.

The Legacy of the Air Jordan V - The Air Jordan That Sold the Most

The Air Jordan V is the all-time best-selling Air Jordan sneaker in the history of the Air Jordans. Many consider it to have the best design and structure for basketball games.
