Terrible First ResponseNike first re-released the Air Jordan I in 1994. The white/black-red and black/red version were re-released for $US80.00. The first retro Air Jordans sold poorly. The response to the re-released Air Jordan 1’s was so bad that some retailers began selling them on sale for as little as $US19.99.
A Better Second-ComingNike released the Air Jordan I Retro once again in 2001. This time however, the public response was tremendous. The Retro Air Jordans I’s often sold out in a matter of minutes at some retaiers. Since the success of the 2001 release, Nike has steadily been releasing various Retro Air Jordan I’s.
More Air Jordan I RetrosIn 2002, Nike released a special Platinum version of the Air Jordan I which featured the Jumpman logo on the side. 2002 also saw the introduction of Nu’Retros. There is quite a bit of debate on whether the Nu’Retros are official releases or not. 2003 saw the release of the patent leather version of the Air Jordan I’s and in 2004, a low top version was introduced.
